GOUVERNEUR- Ray D. Edney, age 74, passed away on November 1, 2013 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY after a courageous 4 year battle with cancer.He was born on September 7, 1939 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada and attended schools there as well.Ray married the love of his life, Lillian Libby on March 26, 1960 in New Brunswick, CA.He worked at CIVES Corp, Gouverneur for just under 35 years. He was also employed as a steel worker in Canada for 11 ½ years and as a part time truck driver for four and half years at Farleys Equipment, Gouverneur. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.Besides his wife Lillian, Ray is survived by four children. His two sons, Brian and his wife, Karla of Maine; Steven and his wife, Tammy of Bigelow; and two daughters, Valerie Trombley and her companion Bob Corbine of Canton; and Debi and her husband, Buzz Potter Jr. of Barnard, Vermont; 11 grandchildren and 10great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and four sisters all of New Brunswick, Canada.He was predeceased by his parents.At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours or funeral. Arrangements have been entrusted to Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur, NY.Memorial donations may be made to the Gouverneur Rescue Squad or to the charity of ones choice.
