OFA football cracks top 10

OFA’s 28-26 overtime victory over Potsdam not only propelled the OFA football team into the New York State Tournament but it also vaulted the Blue Devils into the Top 10 of the NYS Sportswriters Association Class C rankings.

The 8-1 Devils will take a number 10 ranking into Friday night’s regional game at Massena (7 p.m.) against unranked Section 7 Champion Saranac Lake.

The 5-4 Red Storm won their fourth straight sectional title with a 30-28 win over Saranac Central and reversed a 34-13 loss against the Chiefs in regular season play.

The contest will resume an intense postseason between the Devils and the Storm. The Storm have won the last two years with the Devils prevailing in 2010.

Friday’s winner will meet the Section 2 Champion in a site in Section 2.
