Fort Edward:Marcel E. Lalonde, 96, of Fort Edward and formerly of Queensbury, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013.

Born on November 4, 1916 in Newton Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Ernest and Roseanna (Chenier) Lalonde.

Marcel was raised in Newton Falls and graduated from Newton Falls High School in June of 1937. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Marcel worked for the Newton Falls Paper Mill where he retired after 45 years of service.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, swimming and also watching the NY Yankee’s. Marcel was a member of the American Legion.

Marcel married the love of his life, Marion Denno on October 10, 1942 in Utica; they enjoyed 68 years of wonderful marriage before her passing on January 27, 2010. He was also predeceased by his parents; his brothers, John (Evan), Ferna and Archie; his sisters, Ernestine Honeck and Germaine Paro.

He is survived by his son, Wayne Lalonde and his wife, Jeanne of Queensbury; his daughter, Barbara Schuchart and her husband, Victor of California; his daughter, Debbie Root and her husband, Dennis of Schroon Lake; seven grandchildren, Laura Etringer and her husband, Alex, Christopher Lalonde, Scott Wilson and his wife, Emily, Patrick Wilson and his wife, Casey, Steven Wilson, Daniela Eagle and her husband, John, David Root and his wife, Shannon; thirteen great grandchildren, Nina and Clara Etringer, Darlene and Troy Wilson, Cooper, Colton, and Collin Wilson, Mateo Wilson, Carolyn, Hannah and Lila Eagle and Keagan and Mackenzie Root; his brother Gordon Lalonde; his sisters, Florence Smith and Rhea McMaster; along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be celebrated 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the Regan Denny Stafford Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.

Family and friends are invited and may call from 1:30 pm until the time of services at the funeral home.

Burial will be noon on Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Hubert Cemetery, Star Lake, NY.

Donations may be made in Marcel’s memory to Fort Hudson Nursing Home, General Fund, 319 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828 or the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd, Albany, NY 12205.
