OGDENSBURG - Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center President and CEO Mark A. Webster has announced his resignation.
Mr. Webster, a 10-year veteran of the hospital, will be taking a job as CEO at the Cortland Regional Medical Center in Cortland, according to Claxton-Hepburn spokesperson Laura C. Shea.
He plans to work through the end of the year, Mrs. Shea said, adding that his official last day will be Dec. 31.
Mr. Webster is declining to speak with the press, instead directing questions to Mrs. Shea.
Mrs. Shea said the decision to take the position in Cortland was made so Mr. Webster and his wife can be closer to their families.
Both natives of Pennsylvania, Cortland offers Mr. Webster and his wife an opportunity to spend more time with their relatives, Mrs. Shea said.
A nation-wide search for a new CEO will commence shortly, Mrs. Shea said, adding that the hospitals board of directors will ultimately be responsible for hiring Mr. Websters replacement.
In the meantime, Mrs. Shea said, the board of directors is formulating a transition plan.
