Hermon woman charged in Canton car crash

CANTON — A Hermon woman was ticketed after a two-car crash Tuesday afternoon that she said totaled her car.

Village police said Mary A. Davey, 41, was pulling out of the parking lot at Price Chopper, 111 E. Main St., at 3:53 p.m. when her Toyota Corolla broadsided a Mazda 3 driven by Sarah S. Rayburn, Canton, that was heading north on Route 310.

Ms. Davey said she was trying to cross from the Price Chopper parking lot to the Dollar General store and never saw Ms. Rayburn coming.

Canton police were assisted by the Canton Volunteer Fire Department and Canton Volunteer Rescue Squad. No injuries were reported.

Ms. Davey was cited with failure to yield right of way and operating an uninspected vehicle.
