CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The St. Lawrence University men’s hockey team used two first-period goals as it won its first ECAC Hockey conference game of the season, beating Harvard, 3-1, on Friday.

Chris Martin and Greg Carey provided the goals in the opening period, while Matt Weninger stopped 18 shots for the Saints (5-2-2, 1-0-2). Alex Hagen scored an insurance goal late in the third period and Eric Sweetman added two assists.

Jimmy Vesey netted the only goal of the game for the Crimson (2-2-1, 1-2-1), and Raphael Girard turned aside 27 shots.
