Dawn M. Schuerfeld, 24, Route 126, Castorland, was charged by Lewis County Sheriff’s Deputies with aggravated DWI, failure to keep right and leaving the scene of a property damage accident at 6:25 a.m. Monday. Deputies reported Ms. Schuerfeld drifted off the right side of the roadway while traveling north on Route 812 in the town of Lowville. After hitting guardrails, she over-corrected, hitting the guardrails on the left side of the roadway, according to deputies.

After fleeing the scene, she was located at a residence on Van Amber Road.

Ms. Schuerfeld’s blood alcohol content was 0.18 percent, the threshold for aggravated DWI under state law.

Also charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

n Stuart A. McCreary, 55, of 254 Chestnut St., was charged by city police at 12:53 a.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Arsenal Street.

Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.08 percent, the state threshold for intoxication. He also was cited with failure to keep right.
