SYRACUSE — General Brown avenged its only defeat of the season with a strong defensive showing, defeating Immaculate Heart Central 34-7 on Sunday in the Section 3 Class C football championship at the Carrier Dome.

It was General Brown’s first section title since 2010 and its sixth in 10 seasons.

Junior Zech Pitre provided two touchdowns for the Lions (9-1), who lost to IHC 28-26 in October.

After IHC (9-1) tied the game at 7-7 in the first half, General Brown pulled away with 27 unanswered points.

The Cavaliers scored on a passing play from Cole Carpenter to receiver Haden Baker.

Leading IHC receiver Nick Koelmel missed the game after undergoing an appendectomy.
