MASSENA Volunteers took time Friday to give a face-lift to Massena High Schools orchestra room.
Representatives from Home Depot and the Massena Music Friends spent the afternoon painting the walls of the orchestra room that Director Mario Pratti and his students moved into last year. They had used the band room, with tiered floors not conducive to an orchestra. They also used the chorus room and the stage.
I finally have a white board and access to a computer, Mr. Pratti said.
But the wall colors left something to be desired, and thats where the Massena Music Friends and Home Depot came in. Massena Music Friends began in October 2010 when a few interested parents met with school officials after listening to students implore school officials to save their program.
Its goal is to do things for the music program beyond what the districts budget allows. Home Depot provided not only employees who used their day off to paint, but also the paint and supplies.
