Madrid woman charged with criminal contempt

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MADRID - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies charged Erin J. White, 27, of County Route 14, Madrid, with second-degree criminal contempt Tuesday on state Route 310. Deputies said White was violating a no contact order of protection issued by the court on Aug. 23 when she was located in a vehicle with the protected party. White was released on an appearance ticket for Madrid Town Court.

She was additionally charged with four counts of second-degree criminal contempt stemming from an incident Nov. 5 when she was at 1988 state Route 310 when she was in the presence of four individuals that violated a no contact order of protection.

Massena-based state police had charged White with assault with intent to injure with a weapon, second-degree menacing, second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless endangerment, second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon after responding to a complainton May 2 from the town of Madrid.

Troopers said White struck her husband with a baseball bat at 110 Daley Ridge Road and then fled the scene. Police said a U.S. Border Patrol agent located her in her vehicle at 1988 state Route 310.

Police said White refused to comply with orders to turn her vehicle off made by the Border Patrol agent and a state trooper. A Massena Village Police investigator stopped at the scene and attempted to enter the passenger side of the vehicle, and White reportedly then put her vehicle in reverse and slammed into the front of the state police patrol vehicle. As she was attempting to put the vehicle back into drive, a Border Patrol agent was able to use a Taser on White, and she was taken into custody by police.
