Watertown man formally charged with producing meth in apartment

A Watertown man was charged by city police Wednesday after he was found allegedly producing meth in his Factory Street apartment.

Stephen L. Myers, 48, of 661 Factory St., Apt. 34, was charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance and third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Police discovered his meth lab while pursuing a petit larceny investigation at nearby Griff’s Redemption Center, 507 Factory St. In their report, police said they found pseudoephedrine, along with items used to make methamphetamine.

City police also clarified the multiple petit larceny charges lodged against him for allegedly taking things from the nearby redemption center. Police said Mr. Myers took $700 in decorative knives and swords, a meat grinder and tools worth $170, a television and other items worth $207.

He was held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
