The little guy is once again getting the shaft

Talking with a friend the other day about current topics, he interrupted and blurted out, “but what about the money, Ed; what about the money?”

In almost everyone’s world, the money is the biggest concern. The final figures are in on the government shutdown. The struggling economic recovery was hit in the shins while trying to stand up with a $24 billion loss in business activity over the three-week period.

Politicians who claim to care about the American people will gladly put many people out of work to keep their own jobs. With representatives like that, who needs enemies?

When politicians intentionally hurt the nation to make other politicians look bad, we have a political system gone bad. It’s sort of like the mutually assured destruction strategy for nuclear war in the last century, just plain crazy.

With strategies like that we don’t need foreign enemies. We have enough right here at home.

Now going back to the Wall Street collapse. One of the banks that cooperated the most with the government during the meltdown, J.P. Morgan, has now been hit with a fine in the billions. No individual has been charged with crimes, and the only people who are going to be hurt financially are the stockholders. Where is the justice in that?

The little guys get the shaft again, and the crooks get the gold mine. Is this what the American way has turned into? Time after time it seems like the little guy gets screwed and the big slimeball slips away.

There, that is the best I can do on the latest news of the capitalist system we are caught up in. Sometimes reality is scarier than pretend.
