Jefferson County Public Health Service is looking for more local medical professionals to enroll in a free Lyme disease education session, to be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the agency, 531 Meade St.

Dr. Stephen M. Rich, professor of microbiology and director of laboratory and medical zoology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass., will present on the tick-borne disease. The Watertown native will educate local medical providers on clinical aspects of Lyme disease and will offer an overview of tick testing services at the University of Massachusetts.

After his presentation, the state Department of Health will offer remarks, as will a Jefferson County Lyme disease patient.

The event is open only to medical providers. Those interested in attending may call the Public Health Service at 786-3730.
