OSHA investigates Pulaski construction accident that killed Turin man

PULASKI — The Occupational Safety & Health Administration is investigating the construction accident that killed a 23-year-old Turin man, who died Monday afternoon after a gust of wind blew him off the roof of a building.

State police identified the man as Kyle M. Brown, 3926 East Road, Turin. Mr. Brown was carrying roofing material when he fell from a height of 24 feet at the F.X. Caprara construction site on Route 13 in the village.

Mr. Brown, who worked for MTL Design, Watertown, was installing the metal roof with another man when the accident happened at 2:06 p.m., investigators said.

Mr. Brown was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where he was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m.

Mr. Brown’s employer was required to contact OSHA within eight hours after the accident because it involved a fatality, said Jeff P. Prebish, assistant area director.

He declined to comment further about the accident, saying it was an open investigation.

Mr. Prebish said the investigation could take six months to complete and will entail investigating its cause and whether safety programs were followed.

An autopsy was to be completed, state police said.
