BARNES CORNERS – Rodney J. Lucas, 58, passed away at home on November 19, 2013.
Rodney was born in Lowville on June 5, 1955, a son of Carlton S. and Ruth J. Turner Lucas. He first attended school in Barnes Corners and graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1973. In 1974, he enlisted in the United States Army earning the rank of Specialist E-4. He was honorably discharged in 1977. Rodney was a professional truck driver all his life until 2009, when he retired due to health problems.
Rodney was a member of the Lewis County Marine Corps League Detachment #754 and the Copenhagen American Legion Floyd Lyng Post #723.
Survivors include his mother, Ruth of Barnes Corners; four sisters: Linda and Bob Sharlow, Wellesley Island; Susan and Jack Bush, Brantingham; Joanne Lucas, Rodman and Lori and Don Vincent, Barnes Corners; five brothers: Russell, Barnes Corners; Richard and Susan, Barnes Corners; Randal and Teresa, Adams Center; Jeffrey and Brandy, Adams Center; Eric and Angie, Green Castle, PA and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Benny.
He was predeceased by his father, Carlton and his maternal and paternal grandparents
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Linda Harris, officiating. Private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Barnes Corners.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Sundquist Funeral Home.
