The OFA Girls Volleyball team competed amirably for NAC West Division and Section 10 Class C honors in the 2013 season.

But a poised and precise Potsdam team denied their efforts in the regular and postseason.

Despite falling short of a banner for the gym, Coach Sue McLean praised her team for a special season at Wednesday’s Awards Banquet at the Ogdensburg Elks Lodge.

Coach McLean praised her team for a displaying the exciting attributes which packed the gym for big matches.

“This team showed special qualities. The girls rallied behind a teammate that was taken ill and they packed the gym,” said McLean.

“Students came to the matches and made up cheers for the players. It was just great to see.”

The Devils also packaged a dynamic academic record earning 11 NAC All-Academic Awards (offered to sophomores, juniors, seniors) and forming a 12-player NYS Scholar-Athlete Team award which compiled a Section 10 high 94.1 average.

Forming the contingent were: NAC All-Academic Award recipients Adrianna Compo, Jennie Dalton, Taylor Fisher, Emma Hart, Sky Hoover, Jessica Logan, Grace Mashaw, Paige Perry, Brooke Richardson, Sarah Richer and Shanice Wallace and freshman Taylor Perry.

Fisher earned First Team All-NAC West selection, Hart and Hoover made the second team and Logan received the team’s NAC Sportsmanship Award.

The evening climaxed with the presentation of team awards which went to seniors: Adrianna Compo - No Fear Defensive Award, Taylor Fisher - Most Valuable Player, Jessica Logan - Heart-Soul of Team Award and Paige Perry - Coach’s Award; juniors Emma Hart - Outstanding Playmaker and Sky Hoover - Unsung Heroine Award and freshman Taylor Perry - Rookie of the Year.
