GENEVA — Former Carthage standout Jolyon Davis was named the Liberty League’s defensive performer of the week for his play last weekend for the Hobart College football team.

Davis, a senior free safety for the Statesmen, helped Hobart wrap up its second straight undefeated regular season in a 42-21 victory at the University of Rochester.

The Statesmen (9-0) recorded four takeaways against the Yellowjackets. Davis intercepted two passes, forced a fumble and contributed four solo tackles. His first interception came on the last play of the first half, grabbing a pass in the end zone as Rochester tried to tie the game. Davis returned his second interception 43 yards for a touchdown and a 28-14 Hobart lead in the third quarter.

Davis, a team captain, has started all nine games for Hobart and has 27 tackles and three interceptions.

Hobart will host Gallaudet (9-1) in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament at noon Saturday at Boswell Field.
