UNAUTHORIZED USE - MADRID - Massena-based state police charged Bryan J. Price, 21, of 11271 Route 11, North Lawrence, with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle stemming from an investigation into an accident that took place Nov. 15 in Lawrenceville.

Proce had reportedly made a verbal agreement to purchase a vehicle from a friend, Newton Brown of Dekalb, but the North Lawrence man had allegedly been told he couldn’t take the vehicle until Mr. Brown had cancelled the insurance and removed the plates from the vehicle. Mr. Brown had not completed those tasks when Price allegedly took the 2002 Chevy Trailblazer from the Dekalb man’s place of employment in the town of Madrid.

Troopers had charged Ellison B. Price, 42, of 11271 Route 11, North Lawrence, Bryan’s father, with driving while intoxicated Nov. 15 after he crashed the Chevy Trail Blazer on Foster Road in Lawrenceville.

Troopers said Ellisonsuffered cuts on his left arm and face while Bryan suffered cuts and bruises on his right arm, shoulder and face.

Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Chief John H. LaShomb said the vehicle veered across the oncoming lane and down into a ravine, where it traveled another 40 to 50 yards, overturning several times before it struck a wire attached to a utility pole, snapping the pole in half and halting the vehicle.Chief LaShomb said that had it not been for that guide wire stopping the vehicle it would have landed in the Deer River.

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged John P. Kennedy, 63, of 42 Marie St., Massena, with second-degree criminal contempt and unlawful possession of marijuana Thursday evening following an incident that reportedly took place at 9 p.m. Wednesday on the North Raquette River Road in the town of Massena. Kennedy allegedly violated a stay away of order by accompanying his son to his son’s ex-girlfriend’s residence when he was dropping off Kennedy’s grandchilden at Angela Olson’s residence.

DWI - POTSDAM - Canton-based state police charged Patricia L. Dawson, 48, of Madrid with driving while intoxicated, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of marijuana and driving while ability impaired by drugs.

PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENT - POTSDAM - State police from around the region investigated a number of property damage accidents on Thursday. Among those:

■ Lena M. Silsby, 47, of Canton at 5:51 p.m. on Route 11, near Wright Road, in the town of Potsdam.
