Blowing snow: Arctic cold front to hit Jefferson and Lewis counties this weekend


The National Weather Service is warning residents of Jefferson and Lewis counties of nasty weather — snow and high winds — from noon today through 1 a.m. Sunday.

Also, as the arctic cold front moves through the region, ice may form on roads because of the sudden drop in temperature and blowing snow could limit visibility, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Highs will be in the lower 30s and lows will drop to 10 to 15 degrees tonight. Westerly winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph likely would drop the wind-chill temperatures to “single digits,” according to the weather service.

Forecasters said up to 3 inches of snow could accumulate.
