Police release detailed description of robbery suspect


MASSENA - Village police have released a detailed description, as well as surveillance video of the man they’re looking for in connection to Saturday’s armed robbery of the Dollar Tree store in Harte Haven Plaza.

Police haven’t yet said how much money was stolen, but said they’re looking into “several leads.”

The suspect is described as a taller male over 6 feet who weighs between 170 and 190 pounds. At the time of the crime he had dark hair, with short, scruffy facial hair. He is light-skinned with dark eyes and believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, At the time he was wearing light-colored shorts, a red- or burgundy-colored Washington Redskins number 10 (Robert Griffin III) football jersey, a light tan-colored Carhart or Dickies-style jacket and a greenish-colored winter skull cap.

Det. Jordan Jenks of the Massena Village Police Department noted there were several witnesses to the crime, who described the suspect as having a tribal tattoo on the right side of his neck. The tattoo is believed to be yellow and black with a Native American warrior head in the center.

“The suspect did not have anything covering his face and there were several witnesses that saw the suspect,” Det. Jenks said. “I would like anyone with information to call the Massena Police Department.”

The store was robbed at approximately 3:11 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the suspect went into the store with knife and demanded money from the cash register.

“The suspect went into Dollar Tree and held a knife to a cashier’s throat and demanded money,” Det. Jenks said.

The incident remains under investigation.
