MASSENA – If you’re worn out from the late-night and early-morning Black Friday shopping at big box and chain stores, Saturday provides a break from the big crowds and weary walks.

Triple “A” Building Centers are hosting fun events and providing an opportunity for shoppers to “Shop Small” and let some of their holiday spending support local community businesses.

Triple “A” is hosting an open house at each of their three locations from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday. They will have refreshments, door prizes, and activities for the children such as building birdhouses or birdfeeders (prior registration by Wednesday is required). The staff will be on hand to assist parents with the project and provide guidance.

The stores will offer special prices, and the first 25 customers after 9 a.m. will receive a coupon for 20 percent off showroom merchandise. They will be kicking off their new 2014 Holiday Gift Guide, filled with gift ideas and items you wouldn’t expect to find at a hardware and home center.

For those who prefer to shop online, shoppers can visit their website at tripleabuilding.com. Items can be purchased online and shipped to the store for free or directly to the home.

Small Business Saturday is a movement to rally local small businesses and remind consumers of the importance of small community businesses. Dollars spent at locally-owned retailers tend to stay in their respective communities and recycle throughout the local economy instead of being exported to a large corporation headquartered elsewhere.

Triple “A” Building Center is located at 25 Commerce Lane in Canton, Route 56 in Potsdam, and the corner of Malby Avenue and Route 37 in Massena. The stores have been serving customers in the St. Lawrence County area since 1971.

Triple “A” offers a complete line of hardware, paint, plumbing, electrical, lumber and home improvement supplies for the do it yourself, contractor, commercial and industrial clients. In addition, Triple “A” Building Center’s Massena location has over 10,000 square feet devoted to Home Décor products, and both the Canton and Massena locations have Do it Best rental centers.
