Norfolk woman faces eight different charges after domestic dispute Monday

NORFOLK — Melinda S. Branham, 26, of 3755 State Route 310, Norfolk, who was charged by state police with third-degree assault, criminal mischief, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of second-degree menacing Monday following two domestic incidents between Mrs. Branham and her husband, was arrested again for making a false statement to police.

Police said Mrs. Branham and her husband had an argument at their Norfolk home which led to her going after him with a drill. According to police, she than hit him with a baseball bat.

Police said later that day the two were traveling to Potsdam in a truck when they got into another argument, which led to Mrs. Branham stabbing her husband in the arm with a pocket knife, ripping his coat but not causing injury.

Mrs. Branham is scheduled to appear in Norfolk Town Court for the domestic incident.

Upon further investigation, police said, they found a statement Mrs. Branham made following her arrest Monday to be false. She is scheduled in Canton Town Court on that charge.
