FORT DRUM — Drone flight training operations at Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield, which were halted after an MQ-9 Reaper drone crashed into Lake Ontario on Nov. 12, resumed Monday.

The drone crashed into the lake about 12 miles northeast of Oswego during a routine training exercise.

“Our decision to return to training flights is based on a careful review of all facets of our MQ-9 flying program over the past two weeks, along with consultations with our training and technical experts and those from the Air National Guard and Air Combat Command,” Col. Greg Semmel, commander of the New York Air National Guard’s 174th Attack Wing, said in a news release.

The Air Force Accident Investigation Board continues to investigate the mishap, the release said.
