A Funeral Mass for James A. Doerr, age 71 of Ogdensburg and formerly of DePeyster, will be held Saturday (Nov 30, 2013) at 11:00am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Heuvelton with Rev. Jay Seymour and Rev. Kevin O’Brien co-officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8pm and again on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:15am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Doerr passed away Monday (Nov 25, 2013) at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Donna; three sons and their wives, Tony & Janet Doerr of Ogdensburg, Sean & Jen Doerr of Dekalb Jct & Donald & Kimberly Doerr of Dekalb Jct; daughter Tracy & Timothy Lalonde of Ogdensburg, Cheryl Doerr of Ogdensburg; daughter-in-law Tara Doerr of Kekalb Jct; brothers Frederick Doerr & his wife Diana, Robert Doerr & his wife Martha; sisters Elizabeth Rhodes & her husband James and Mary Louise Kyle all of OH; grandchildren Andrew, Logan & Bradley Doerr, Lindsay Aldous, Kaitlyn & Devion Doerr, Austin & Ashley Lalonde, Joshua Liebstein, Jordan Fennessey & DeAnna Fennessey; two great-grandchildren Kambree & Areanna Measheaw and several nieces, nephews & cousins. A brother Stephen Doerr predeceased him.

Jim was born on August 10, 1942 in Akron, OH a son of the late Anton & Helen (Riegler) Doerr. He graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1960, and continued his education at Akron University where he majored in accounting. He then married Donna M. Hardman on February 8, 1964.

During his career he was employed at Hauser Products in Akron, OH for a nine years prior to relocated to the town of DePeyster where he and his family operated a dairy farm from 1970 – 1992. He later became employed at Hackett’s Hardware for nine years and then Crowes Equipment where he retired from in 2007.

Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he held 4th degree status and was a Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Raphael’s Church in Heuvelton. He raced antique modified stock cars for 10 years and enjoyed fishing, spending time on the Oswegatchie River and camping in Fowler. Memorial contributions can be made to the Deacon Adam Crowe Scholarship Fund, The Knights of Columbus or the St. Raphael’s Alter & Rosary Society.
