State offering $25 gift card for campsite reservations made on Cyber Monday

ALBANY — State officials operating New York’s campsites are offering a $25 gift card to those who on Monday book online a two-night stay.

The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and the Department of Environmental Conservation say qualifying reservations have to be made sometime in those 24 hours. Bookings can be made through Labor Day weekend, depending on availability, at many of the state’s more than 15,000 campsites.

The inventory includes secluded woodland camps, lakeside cabins and full service cottage rentals.

Reservations can be made online at

In 2012, the parks office said, cabins and campsites were occupied 578,428 nights, a record that will be broken this year.

In 2013, more than 1.6 million visitors went to DEC campgrounds and day use areas in the Adirondack and Catskill mountains.
