LOUISVILLE — A Baldwinsville woman is being held at St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $750 bail after allegedly violating an order of protection not even 24 hours after receiving five misdemeanor charges.

Frances A. O’Brien, 59, was charged by state police with third-degree assault, second-degree menacing, criminal mischief, petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon early Saturday.

Police said Ms. O’Brien had been a visitor at the home of Marilyn Thompson, 10161 Route 56, for several weeks. After the two had an argument, police said, Ms. O’Brien put her belongings in her vehicle, took a snow shovel and started hitting the front door with it. When Ms. Thompson opened the door, police said, Ms. O’Brien struck her with the shovel and hit the floor with it, damaging tile. Upon leaving the residence, Ms. O’Brien took Ms. Thompson’s dog with her, they said.

Police said an order of protection was ordered for Ms. Thompson, but Ms. O’Brien violated it later that day when she returned to the residence to get her belongings and her cat.

Ms. O’Brien is scheduled to appear in Louisville Town Court.
