LOWVILLE Homeowners in Lewis County whose homes are in need of repair may be eligible for grant funds to assist with the cost.
Lewis County legislators will submit an application for U.S. Housing and Urban Development Small Cities Community Development Block Grant for housing rehabilitation assistance, pending receipt of eligible applications from homeowners. The more applications received, the more likely grant funds will be awarded to Lewis County.
Income limits are up to 80 percent of the county median, which is $40,950 for a household of three. Priority is given to those who have the lowest incomes and the greatest need.
A public hearing to provide information about the program is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday in the legislative chambers during the regularly scheduled monthly legislators meeting.
Those interested in getting on a waiting list to receive assistance are encouraged to attend. Interested people also can call Snow Belt Housing at 376-2639 to receive an application.
