CHAUMONT — Senior point guard Troy Wilson scored a career-high 35 points to pace Lyme’s boys basketball team to victory in its season opener, 60-49 over LaFargeville on Monday night in Frontier League “D” Division play.

Wilson also recorded five rebounds six assists and four steals for the Indians.

Tim Morrow contributed 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals for Lyme, and Mark Parker added 11 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

GENERAL BROWN 52, COPENHAGEN 40

Katie Pitkin finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals during the Lions’ nonleague victory at Copenhagen.

Hannah Smithers and Emily Amell scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, and Rhea Pitkin made five steals for General Brown (2-0).

Brooke Spaulding supplied 18 points for Copenhagen (0-1).

MADRID-WADDINGTON 59, LISBON 27

Tess Knight scored a game-high 17 points to pace the Yellowjackets to victory in the opening round of the Jessie Chamberlain Memorial Tournament.

Jennie King contributed 14 points and six rebounds for Madrid-Waddington (1-0), which advances to face Heuvelton in the championship game on Wednesday.

Alex Amo scored 10 points to lead the Golden Knights (0-1).

HEUVELTON 58, EDWARDS-KNOX 23

Paige McCormick scored 19 points to pace the Bulldogs to a win in the first round of the Jessie Chamberlain Memorial Tournament.

Maddie St. Pierre added 11 points for Heuvelton (1-0), and Olivia St. Pierre hauled in 10 rebounds to go along with six points.

Logan Tallman totaled eight points to lead the Cougars (0-1).

HOCKEY

SYRACUSE 3, IHC 2 (OT)

Mitch Laffin scored the winning goal 45 seconds into overtime to lift Syracuse to a season-opening Section 3 Division I American Conference victory at the Watertown Municipal Arena.

Sean Eccles finished with one goal and one assist, and Jared Ristoff also scored.

Goalie Sam Walsh stopped 21 shots for Syracuse.

Jake Renzi and Jared Pignone scored for Immaculate Heart Central, and Chandler Burgenstock assisted both goals. Cole James made 18 saves.

VOLLEYBALL

SANDY CREEK 3, BEAVER RIVER 1

Kylee Martin accounted for 33 assists, 15 service points and five kills in the Comets’ 24-26, 25-22, 25-17, 26-24 season-opening Frontier League “C” Division victory at Sandy Creek.

Sandy Creek trailed 24-19 in the last game, and Shania Darling, who also finished with 10 digs, served the last six points for the Comets.

Kylie Hanni registered eight kills, 10 digs and seven blocks.

McKenna Guarasce hit 16 kills and Grace Wallace added 12 kills for Sandy Creek.

Melissa Hunt recorded 10 kills, 23 digs and 10 points for Beaver River.
