Philadelphia man faces 2 years in prison for sex act with minor

A Philadelphia man faces 2 years in state prison after pleading guilty Tuesday in Jefferson County Court to a charge that he had sexual contact with a teenage girl.

Roland J. Frickey Jr., 51, whose last known address was 32473 County Route 30, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sex act. He was named in grand jury indictments handed up in June charging him with inducing two teenagers, ages 13 and 14, into a sexual performance and having sexual contact with them in November 2012 and December 2012 in the town of LeRay.

In addition to the term in prison, he is expected to be ordered to undergo 5 additional years of supervision upon his release. Clifford J. Mele, 31, Harrisville, also had been named in an indictment alleging that he had induced the 14-year-old into a sexual performance. He pleaded guilty Oct. 21 to attempted use of a child in a sexual performance and is expected to be sentenced Dec. 18 to two to four years in prison.

In other court activity:

Derrick G. Edmondson, 29, of 516 Stone St., Upper Apt., pleaded guilty to criminal obstruction of breathing. He was named in an indictment handed up in April with applying pressure to the throat of Megan S. Witt, causing her “to go into a state of stupor” on Feb. 28 in Watertown. His sentencing was set for Feb. 14.

Patricia A. Monica, 41, of 520 Lansing St., pleaded guilty to first-degree falsifying business records. She was charged in October with making a false entry on a business record Oct. 14 at Herb Philipson’s, 1283 Arsenal St., when she answered that she was not a convicted felon to purchase a muzzleloading rifle, according to court documents. She previously was convicted of a felony, fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, in September 2011 in County Court. She subsequently was sentenced Tuesday to a one-year conditional discharge and was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.

Richard B. Spurling, 46, Mexico, pleaded guilty to seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Further information about the charge was not available from the court. He is expected to be sentenced Feb. 4 to a conditional discharge and be ordered to complete the Bridge program.
