MALONE - Two of the NACs premier goalies matched zeros through two periods and Malone (1-0) outscored OFA 2-1 in the third in the NAC Division II Hockey opener for both teams on Tuesday night.
The Huskies Joey Brown stopped 30 shots and allowed only a Jon Tayler goal from Burke Comeau and Jared Barr to record the 2-1 victory. Dave Prudhomme stopped 21 shots for OFA (1-2, 0-1 NAC)
Taylers third goal in three games came with 4:00 to play and answered a Jake Henning tally by Malone 1:04 into the final period.
Bailey Conklin netted the game-winner on a break-away with 2:09 to play in the game.
It was a tough game. Malone played very physical and picked up a lot of penalties. We had three 5-on-3 opportunities but we just didnt score on, said OFA Coach Jon Frederick who lead his team in another NAC Division II game on Friday at Norwood-Norfolk.
Overall we just didnt bury our chances and we need someone else to step up and score along with Jon Tayler. Jared Barr passed the puck extremely well tonight and Austin Morley Sloan did a great job playing tough in front of their net. He drew four penalties.
