Rensselaer Falls man charged with criminal impersonation

State police arrested Ryan E. Kelly, 20, of 2191 DeKalb Kelly Road, Rensselaer Falls, Tuesday and charged him with second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to keep right, both traffic violations.

It is alleged that Mr. Kelly pretended to be his brother, Sean Kelly, when he was stopped by troopers on Nov. 9 in the village of Heuvelton and given a traffic ticket for failure to keep right.

Police said they received a call from Sean Kelly who said he had not operated the vehicle at the time the ticket was issued.

Ryan Kelly was arrested after an interview at the Ogdensburg state police barracks where he admitted to using his brother’s name because his license was revoked, police said.

Mr. Kelly was issued an appearance ticket returnable on Dec. 11 in Oswegatchie Town Court.
