POTSDAM Junior Dequan Pitts scored a career-high 25 points to power the Potsdam boys basketball team to a 64-58 Northern Athletic Conference Central Division victory over Salmon River on Thursday in the season opener for both teams.
Jake Mitchell and Nick Vaccaro added 11 points apiece for the Sandstoners.
Josh Hynes provided 25 points to pace the Shamrocks.

Jacob Fox scored 16 points and Zack Kanaly added 14, including 9-of-10 from the free throw line, for Morristown (0-1).

The Lumberjacks went on an 18-5 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Yellowjackets in the championship game of the Dinneen Memorial Tournament in Madrid.
Mitch Keinston led all scorers with 22 points for Tupper Lake (2-0).
