POTSDAM — Junior Dequan Pitts scored a career-high 25 points to power the Potsdam boys basketball team to a 64-58 Northern Athletic Conference Central Division victory over Salmon River on Thursday in the season opener for both teams.

Jake Mitchell and Nick Vaccaro added 11 points apiece for the Sandstoners.

Josh Hynes provided 25 points to pace the Shamrocks.

CANTON 44, ST. LAWRENCE 31

Evan LaPoint led all scorers with 18, and the Golden Bears (1-0) claimed a Central Division victory over the Larries despite not making a field goal until midway through the second quarter.

For St. Lawrence (0-1), Josh White scored 17 of his team’s 19 points in the first half.

LISBON 57, HERMON-DEKALB 29

At Lisbon, Jimmy Robinson generated 23 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to pace the Knights to a West Division victory over the Demons.

Jake Putney posted 18 points and collected five steals for Lisbon (2-0, 1-0).

Cody Merritt tallied 12 points to pace Hermon-DeKalb (0-1).

HARRISVILLE 57, MORRISTOWN 50

Nate Weaver scored 11 of his 26 points in the first quarter to power the Pirates, playing without starter Jared Dreythaler, to a West Division win over the Green Rockets in Morristown.

Brennan Best scored 20 points for Harrisville (1-0).

Jacob Fox scored 16 points and Zack Kanaly added 14, including 9-of-10 from the free throw line, for Morristown (0-1).

TUPPER LAKE 54, MADRID-WADDINGTON 46

The Lumberjacks went on an 18-5 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Yellowjackets in the championship game of the Dinneen Memorial Tournament in Madrid.

Mitch Keinston led all scorers with 22 points for Tupper Lake (2-0).

Maurice Rease scored 15 for Madrid-Waddington (1-1).

HEUVELTON 51, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 19

Mike Martin scored 14 points and the Bulldogs built a 25-6 halftime lead before cruising past the Flyers in the consolation game of the Dinneen Memorial Tournament.

Jeff Arquitt added 10 points for Heuvelton (1-1).

Garrett Waite led the Flyers (0-2) with seven points.
