Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Zehr, 16429 County Route 64, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today, with a reception hosted by their daughters.
Mr. Zehr, son of the late Ira and Laura Zehr, married Gloria A. Martin, daughter of the late Francis Ted and Ruby Martin, on Dec. 7, 1963, at Evangelical United Brethren Church, Beaver Falls, with the Rev. Stewart McCleary officiating. Honor attendants were Betty Jean Ellis, Croghan, sister of the groom, and the late Francis Martin Jr., brother of the bride.
Mrs. Zehr attended Watertown High School and was a homemaker for Jefferson County Department of Social Services for 20 years, retiring in 2005.
Mr. Zehr graduated in 1961 from Beaver River Central School, Beaver Falls, and served in the Army Reserve 479th Engineer Battalion from 1976 to 1987, transferring to the 332nd Ordnance Battalion, where he served until retirement in 1991. Mr. Zehr was employed at Knorr Brake Ltd., part of New York Air Brake Co., for 36 years, retiring in 2002. Mr. Zehr is a member of North Side Improvement League and works part-time at Kinney Drugs, Watertown.
The couple has three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcy and Thomas Bolio, Hyde Park, Susan and Christopher Bourn, Dexter, and Heidi and Tyler Williams, Peru; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
