CAMILLUS - The Massena Central boys hockey team held a 21-12 advantage in shots but wound up on the short side of a 4-0 decision to the host team in the opening round of the West Genesee Tournament on Friday.
It was a really fast-paced game against some high speed competition. We stayed with them but we just couldnt put the puck in the net tonight, noted coach Mike Trimboli afterward.
Connor Paquin made nine saves working the Raider crease while Henry Burns turned aside the 21 shots he faced in posting the shutout.
Four different players scored goals for West Genesee.
Massena (1-1) will now get set to take on Suffern in the consolation game today at 2:30 p.m. Suffer fell 2-1 to Fairport in the other first round match and will face off against West Genesee in the title game at 5 p.m.
