Poll finds New York consumer confidence jumped in November

The New York State Index of Consumer Sentiment increased 3.7 points in November from October, while the nation’s index increased 1.9 points, according to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute released Wednesday.

In November, buying plans were down for furniture, 2.6 points to 19.3 percent, homes, 1.1 points to 4 percent, and major home improvements, 3.4 points to 13 percent. Buying plans were up for cars/trucks, 1.1 points to 14 percent and consumer electronics, 2.8 points to 38.3 percent. At 73.3, New York’s overall Index of Consumer Sentiment is 1.8 points below the nation’s index of 75.1.
