Police charge 7 with DWI


The following people are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

n Kristin R. Ransom, 33, Route 37, Hogansburg, was charged by state police Friday night after she was stopped at a DWI checkpoint on Route 56 in Potsdam. Ms. Ransom’s blood alcohol content was 0.11 percent, police said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher is considered proof of intoxication.

n Joey D. Griffin, 43, of 18 Pestle Street Road, Russell, was charged by state police Friday night. Police said Mr. Griffin was stopped for a traffic violation on County Route 24 in Russell. His BAC was 0.10 percent, police said.

n Christine M. Gibbs, 35, of 49 Somerset Ave., Massena, was charged by Massena village police with aggravated DWI Friday night. Police said Ms. Gibbs was observed bumping into another vehicle at Grove Street and Route 37 by a Burger King employee, who then contacted police. Police said that after speaking with Ms. Gibbs, the victim of the accident decided to follow her because he thought she was intoxicated. Police spotted Ms. Gibbs’s vehicle on East Orvis Street and made the arrest on Glenn Street. Her BAC was listed as 0.18 percent, the threshold for aggravated DWI.

n Jessica Roney, 30, of 214 S. Hamilton St., was charged by state police at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 11 in the town of LeRay. Her BAC was listed as 0.11 percent.

n Patrick A. Waters, 23, of 113 Laguardia Place, Sackets Harbor, was arrested by state police on Barracks Drive at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. The Fort Drum soldier refused a Breathalyzer test, police said. He was arraigned in Hounsfield Town Court and released to his commanding officer on his own recognizance.

n Zechariah I. Trumble, 23, of 1066 Route 5, also was charged by state police with resisting arrest and second-degree harassment at 9:23 p.m. Friday on Route 11 in the town of Richland. His BAC was not listed. Police said he forcibly tried to walk by an officer.

n Mario A. Mendez, 27, of 227 Stone St., Apt. 1, also was charged by Watertown police with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed driving and having a defective headlight. His BAC was not listed.

He is accused of having seven alprazolam pills, a schedule four controlled substance, in an unmarked pill container that was found in his right pants pocket.
