M-W basketball teams net East Division sweep over P-H


MADRID - The Madrid-Waddington boys and girls varsity basketball teams posted an NAC East Division sweep at home over Parishville-Hopkinton on Monday.


Jacob Barney produced 12 points, five steals, and four rebounds and TJ Gagnon ripped down eight boards, posted three steals, two blocks, and scored nine points leading the Jackets past the Panthers with a 21-7 second quarter run that helped seal a 64-24 win. Liam Miller added eight followed by David Odendahl with seven and Maurice Rease with six while Alex Hammond and Zach Brock each scored five. Austin Lanning generated six boards, two blocks and two points.

Wyatt Snell scored 10 for P-H. Connor Sullivan added six while Kobe Wells and Mike Cook each scored three and Mike Burns chipped in two.


Desiree Pryce tallied 15 points and produced 14 rebounds in a career effort for M-W, which outscored the Panthers 33-2 in the second half en route to posting a 59-20 decision.

Kayleigh Field added five points and seven steals while Tess Knight scored 15, Sam Duggan and Olivia Parmeter each added seven, Jenn King delivered six, and Hannah Marcellus posted four as M-W pulled away from a 26-18 halftime lead.

Nicole White produced nine points, including a pair of three-pointers, in the losing cause. Kodi Perkins chipped in seven points followed by Olivia Collins and Zenger with two apiece.


In the other NAC East Division varsity boys basketball matchups on Monday, St. Regis Falls dropped Norwood-Norfolk 79-29 and Tupper Lake beat Colton-Pierrepont 64-29.

SRF 79, N-N 26: At St. Regis Falls, the Saints ran out to a 41-10 lead by halftime in raising their early-season record to 4-0 overall. Corey Labounty led all scorers with 20 points in the winning effort. Ryan Duquette struck for another 16 points followed by Tyler Daggett with 15.

Garrett Waite led the Flyers (0-3, 0-1) with six points. Zach Benware added five followed by Brett Barkley with four. Devon Guyette and Ryan Fullerton finished with three points each. Ian St. Andrews and Skyler Stanford chipped in two points apiece while Travis Gay netted a free throw.
