James W. Wright, Watertown native, former state senator and executive director of the Development Authority of the North Country, has been awarded the first Trident Award by his alma mater, SUNY Oswego.
I very much appreciate it and I was humbled by the award, Mr. Wright said.
The office of alumni relations at SUNY Oswego made the announcement Tuesday morning. SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley presented the award to Mr. Wright on Oct. 4 during a ceremony to dedicate the Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation.
Mr. Wright was state senator for the 48th district, which includes Oswego County, from 1993 to 2008. Mr. Wright said that from his early days in elected office, he was an advocate for the state university system.
