CARTHAGE—A two-car accident Wednesday morning on Route 3 left two with minor injuries.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said Leo A. Lawler, 77, of 33862 Route 3 was driving west and turning left from his mailbox and into his driveway when his vehicle struck one driven by Lloyd W. Ashley, 28, of 16 Roberts St., Adams, who was eastbound, causing damage to both vehicles.

According to deputies, the accident occurred at 11:50 a.m. at Route 3 and Mr. Lawler’s driveway, near Jackson II Road.

Mr. Lawler suffered minor bleeding on his face and Colleen H. Hatch, a passenger in Mr. Ashley’s vehicle, reportedly suffered abdominal pain and was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Mr. Lawler was charged with failure to keep right. He is to answer the charge in Champion Town Court.
