FORT DRUM A Fort Drum man was arrested Wednesday after city police said nearly struck a pedestrian as he drove his vehicle after inhaling gas duster.
Anthony I. DeJesus, 21, of 20332 Bagram Road, Apt. 143, was arrested at 10:03 p.m. at 200 S. Rutland St. after police said he operated his 2001 Mercury after inhaling the canned duster. According to police, Mr. DeJesus lost consciousness while operating the vehicle, left the north side of Boyd Street and nearly struck Robert D. Ieppert, of 202 W. Main St., Upper Apt., Watertown.
He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, suspended registration, leaving the scene of an accident without reporting and failure to keep right. He was processed at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and released to military custody. He will answer the charges in Watertown City Court.
