DETROIT Ogdensburgs Jimmy Howard has joined the Detroit Red Wings lengthy inury list. Howard, the Red Wings all-star goalie, injured a knee during practice Wednesday.
That led to the Red Wings recalling Petr Mrazek from the AHLs Grand Rapids Griffins and putting forward Henrik Zetterberg on long-term injured reserve. The Red Wings have ruled Howard out for tonights game at Tampa Bay and reported that they plan to reevaluate his status on Friday in Detroit.
Mrazek is listed as the back up for Jonas Gustavsson for tonights game.

The injury was latest development in a trying season for Howard who stands at 6-8-7 in a the season filled with one-goal decisions and still very much in the picture for one of three spots on the United States team for the Olympics in Russia. According the Olympic Tracker of the USA Today Howard is tied for third place with Corey Schneider of the New Jersey Devils on the US goalie rankings.
Mike Quick of the Los Angeles Kings and Ryan Miller of the Buffalo Sabres stand one and two.
Zetterberg, one of the major Red Wing players currently sidelined. hasnt played since Dec. 1 because of a back injury.
