Funeral services for Rose Y. Trotter, age 88 of Ogdensburg will be held on Sunday (Dec 15, 2013) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Calling hours will be held also on Sunday from 12:00noon until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Mrs. Trotter passed away early Thursday morning (Dec 12, 2013) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility.

Surviving are three sons Peter Trotter & his wife Jo Anne of PA, Frank Trotter of Ogdensburg & Scott Trotter & his wife Cindy of Ogdensburg; two daughters Charlene Romano of Ogdensburg and Darlene Richer of Syracuse, NY; grandchildren Peter & Angie Trotter, Aaron Trotter, Susie, Sarah & James Ghize, Anthony Romano, Shelly Johnston & her husband Bob, Brenda McDonald & her husband Shawn and Heather Valerino & her husband Steve; many great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband Myers; 7 sisters Elsie Tinnel, Eva Mallott, Gladys Hoiston, Doris McCormick, Marion Baker, Julia Ellis, Hazel Seeley; 7 brothers Irving, Orin, Ollie, Oliver, Algie, Johney, & Amos Youngs; grandchildren Jeritt Trotter, Terry Vinch, Anita Dulmage and son-in-law Wayne Richer.

Rose was born on December 30, 1924 in Heuvelton, NY a daughter of the late George & Elida (Young) Youngs. She graduated from Morristown High School in 1941 and enlisted with the US Womens’s Army Corps from 1942 – 1945. She married Myers Trotter on July 1, 1958 in Montrose, PA. The couple lived on Main Street in Ogdensburg until 1984 when they built their home on the Camp Road in the Town of Oswegatchie.

During her career she was employed at Diamond National, various restaurants as a waitress and was a family care provider for 18 years. She was a member of the VFW Am Vets Women’s Auxiliary and the First Congregational Church in Ogdensburg. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family.
