Troy Wilson of the Lyme boys basketball team made the most of his only game this week and garnered 51.7 percent of fan votes to capture the Times’ Week’s Elite honors.

Wilson — a 5-foot-11 senior guard — beat out Carthage volleyball player Carly Sullivan (20.7 percent) and Immaculate Heart Central boys basketball player Robin Massey (17.2).

In Monday’s 63-40 Frontier League “D” Division victory over Belleville Henderson, Wilson scored 34 points to go with nine rebounds and six steals. He made a season-high four 3-point field goals.

“What helped in that game was I started hitting my outside shot a little bit and we were really playing well as a team, getting quite a few steals and playing real well on defense,” Wilson said. “So that helped generate easier baskets for all of our players.”

Three games into his fifth varsity season, Wilson is averaging 35.3 points and has the Indians off to a 3-0 start.

“I feel we’re all playing pretty well. We started out a little slow but I think we’re starting to gel and figure each other out a little better,” Wilson said.

Lyme has games scheduled this week against South Lewis and Beaver River.

“I think if we come out and play the best that we can, we can come out with some wins. But it’s not going to be easy. I know both of those teams got really good potential and they play well together.”

Week’s Elite vote totals: Troy Wilson, Lyme, 15 votes; Carly Sullivan, Carthage, 6; Robin Massey, IHC, 5; Enesa Ososkalo, Lyme, 2; Matt Valin, LaFargeville, 1

(Voting for the Week’s Elite begins at 6 p.m. Saturday on the sports page at watertowndailytimes.com.).
