The Watertown Privateers will play a Federal Hockey League game against the Dayton Demonz in Winston-Salem, N.C., on March 1, the league announced Wednesday.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be played in Watertown on the same date, will be held at 7:05 p.m. at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds.
In its fourth season, the FHL is seeking to expand its footprint and develop new markets, FHL commissioner Don Kirnan said. We have targeted a few venues that could make strong additions to our league.
Professional hockey in Winston-Salem dates back to the early 1970s and has included teams from the Southern Hockey League, the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, the East Coast Hockey League, the United Hockey League and most recently, the Southern Professional Hockey League.
