New Hartford, NY- Martha W. Bostick died Dec. 16, 2013, at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford. She was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Syracuse, the daughter of Gilbert and Clara Hoyt Wentworth, and attended schools in Syracuse and at Mary Lyon School, Swarthmore, PA, before studying at Syracuse University. She worked for American Airlines in New York prior to her marriage to Richard M. Bostick on Oct. 2, 1948. She served as the first woman on the Board of Managers of Lewis County General Hospital and as an elder of New Hartford Presbyterian Church and First Presbyterian Church, Lowville. By far her happiest times were spent raising her family and entertaining friends in Lowville and Number Four, NY. Surviving are a son, Richard (Carla) Bostick, Clayville, NY; a daughter, Anne (Terry) Say, Atlanta, GA; a son-in-law, J.T. Shrigley, Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren Carolyn Bostick, Utica; Sarah and Richard Bostick, Clayville; Andrew Shrigley, Denver, CO; Catie Schreiman, Atlanta, GA; Kim (Dan) Young, and a great-granddaughter, Mary Anne Young, Everett, WA; nieces and a nephew. She was pre-deceased by her husband; a daughter, Wendy Shrigley; a granddaughter, Taylor Shrigley; a sister, Anne Kehoe, and a loved nephew, Burton Kehoe. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at New Hartford Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Stephen Melton officiating and a reception to follow. Interment will be in the spring at Lowville Rural Cemetery.
