A musical tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons is hitting the stage in Ogdensburg next month.
OH WHAT A NIGHT! A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons will be presented Jan. 5 at 3 p.m. in the George Hall Auditorium at Ogdensburg Free Academy.
As one of the original boy bands, Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons rose to fame in the mid-1960s with hits like Sherry, Big Girls Dont Cry, Cant Take My Eyes Off of You, Walk Like a Man, and Who Loves You.
When I created this show, the intention was to put out a project for all ages, show director Michael Chapman said Thursday. Its very upbeat, family-friendly and comedic. Its the kind of show grandparents can bring their grandkids to.
Younger generations also enjoy the show, he said.
We always do a meet-and-greet with the audience after the show, so we get to hear responses from people. Many kids in their early teens, who have never heard of them or maybe only heard about them through their parents, tell us they appreciate the music.
OH WHAT A NIGHT! will not only feature all of the original hits, but as well as several other Top 10 releases.
Dance numbers are choreographed by Paul Holmquist. Mr. Holmquist and Mr. Chapman have also produced Supreme Reflections, The Ultimate Tribute to Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Good Vibrations, a Celebration of the music of the Beach Boys.
Every number has lots of movement, if not full out dance routines, Mr. Chapman said. So many people sing along, some for entire songs. And sometimes, though we dont encourage people, they do get up and dance.
The musical is written by George Solomon.
Anyone who doesnt attend the show will definitely be hearing about it, Mr. Chapman said.
Tickets range from $15 to $37. For ordering details see below.
