Charles L. Fluno, Jr. P.E., 85, oldest son of Charles L. Fluno, Sr. and Shirley M. (LeHare) Fluno beloved husband, father, grandfather / Poppy, uncle and friend passed away peacefully December 19, 2013, at Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by family.
Charles was a 1946 graduate of Watertown High School, Valedictorian of 1950 Clarkson College Engineering Class. He practiced as a consulting Mechanical Engineer for Charles L. Fluno P.E & Associates until his passing. His proudest accomplishment however was in making each of his children feel like they were his favorite. He loved Jesus and wanted all to know and love Him also.
He married Irene B. Lambert on September 9, 1950 at Holy Family Church. He married Elizabeth Davis on November 29, 1997 at St. Patricks Church.
Charles served in many community organizations, served as past president of Full Gospel Businessmens Fellowship International, Kiwanis Club, Watertown Skating and Hockey Association, Member of North Side Improvement League, board member of Watertown Urban Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Town of Watertown Zoning Board, Knights of Columbus and the Elks Club. He was a member of St. Patricks Church and had also been a member at First Presbyterian Church and a lifetime Honorary Fan of NY Yankees having been at many opening days.
Charles is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Davis) Fluno; five children Christine A. Fluno ORiley (Richard), Catherine M. Fluno McGowan (George), Charles A. Fluno (Lori), James L. Fluno (Amy), Anne M. Kinney(Ray); stepchildren Diane Davis Stone (Jeff), Thomas D. Davis (Amerika), Richard D. Davis, Jr. (Rebecca), Gary J. Davis (Karen) and Lizbeth Davis; a brother, John (Donna) Fluno, Largo, Fla.; 17 grandchildren 18 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, 14 stepgrandchildren, 20 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren, his best friend Michael Chiappone, faithful co workers Gary LaVere and Scott Weston. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers LeRoy (Helen), Larry W., sister Shirley A. and his wife Irene B. (Lambert) Fluno, stepdaughter Deborah Davis.
The funeral will be 10 am Monday Dec. 23, 2013 at St. Patricks Church, Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday 2 to 5 pm at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, burial in Brookside Cemetary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Watertown Skating and Hockey Association or to St. Patricks Church.
