Watertown man charged with allegedly attacking officer, roommate

A Watertown man was arrested Monday morning after city police say he became violent with a sheriff’s deputy who was attempting to arrest him for a separate assault charge.

Brandon T. Rush, 30, of 214 Clinton St., Apt. 101, was initially charged with third-degree assault after police said he entered his roommate Jeffrey C. Ostrom’s room and punched him, causing Mr. Ostrom to suffer chest pains, bruising and swelling.

At the time of his first arrest for the alleged assault, police said Mr. Rush pushed himself up against police officer Holly M. Trottier and attempted to grab her service weapon.

While being transported to Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office on the assault and second-degree harassment charges, Mr. Rush was accused of refusing to comply with orders and attacked Sgt. John P. Gregory of the sheriff’s department, throwing the deputy into a window frame, causing bruising and pain to his spinal area.

For this alleged incident, Mr. Rush was additionally charged with second-degree assault. He was processed and held at the correctional facility pending arraignment in City Court.
