HAILESBORO - Azro “John” Palmer, 83, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013 at his home.There are no funeral services or calling hours and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

Azro was born on December 18, 1930 in St. Regis Falls, the son of Homer and Gertrude Demar Palmer.He attended school in St. Regis Falls and then served in the United States Army in Germany from 1947 to 1949.

Azro had worked at St. Joe Mineral Company and retired after 33 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and archery, was a member of the Wolf Creek Hunting Club, and had served as the president of the Hailesboro Cemetery Association.

He married Mary E. Mouck on January 21, 1954 in DeKalb Jct.

Azro is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary, two daughters Cynthia Barbarito of Edwards, Teresa Simmons of Harrisville, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers Norman, Vincent, and Clyde Palmer, a sister Irene Tebo, and his parents.
